What can I expect when joining?

Both the signal and the discord primarily exist for me to provide information; they do not exist for attendees to talk with each other. This is both so notifications are limited and so that I don't have to moderate as heavily.

Signal

The signal is more simple than the discord. I share event updates (which I try to limit), I send timed reminders for when the event will happen (2 weeks before, 1 week before, the day before, the day of), and I share where we will meet (a few days before the event is scheduled).

Discord

The discord is a little bit more complex than the signal but it contains the same information. I share event updates (which I try to limit), I send timed reminders for when the event will happen (2 weeks before, 1 week before, the day before, the day of), and I share where we will meet (a few days before the event is scheduled).

The discord has 4 categories: information, notifications, connection, and community. This is so that attendees who are in the discord have more control of what they get notifications for.

Information: Has most of the same information that is on the website (such as location information, transportation information, and future intentions and updates), it also has the rules/(code of conduct) for the event. It also has a section for RSVP's. There is a notifications and roles channel where attendees can customize when they get pinged for events, if they are comfortable with other attendees DM'ing them, and roles to pick a color for their discord name.

Notifications: These are where the necessary messages are, both for timed reminders and for any event updates. This is where the location of the event is shared along with any event conflicts.

Connection: As described above, the server is not supposed to be very active and there isn't any channels for casual discussion. That said, there are a couple of channels for some discussion. There is an introductions channel where attendees can provide a description of themselves and what they are looking for at an event(s). There is a forum for the meet(s) where each planned meet has it's own post. This is where attendees can ask questions about the event or if they want to share who they are and who they talked to in order to make discord friends with other attendees, they can. Then there is ask to dm where attendees can ask other attendees if it is okay for them to dm another attendee.

Community: This category is a little bit more experimental than the other ones and it has been less active than other categories. In theory I want this to be a section where attendees can uplift their community works. Right now the only channel in there is a channel for local queer art with a focus on trans and nonbinary creators. It is not for posting every project but for sharing more of a portfolio. In theory I would also like to add a channel where attendees can share the events they are a part of or host, but so far there hasn't seemed to be a need or interest and I'm still figuring out how I would like it to function and how I would like to format it.
